Frequently Asked Questions
What size should I buy?
We wash and tumble dry all of our fabric before we start to sew with it. Organic cotton has a tendency to shrink so our goal is to give you clothing that is pre-shrunk. No nasty surprises after your first wash. Our patterns are true to size, but do tend to be slightly on the bigger side so that you get your money’s worth. We do recommend buying 1 size up – our joggers (even with their cuff) and our leggings look great rolled up. Our intention is for your Charlie & Gus clothing to be worn for ages and then passed down to younger siblings and friends.
Where do you buy your fabric from?
We design all of our fabric in-house and then get it digitally printed on fabric.
Here is a list of where our fabric has been sourced:
Organic Cotton Knit – USA
Bamboo Cotton Knit Jersey – Canada
Bamboo French Terry – Canada
Where are your garments manufactured?
Right here in Toronto – Roncesvalles to be specific. We have a small team of seamstresses who cut and sew everything. We work out of a little studio with loud music, lots of coffee, and the odd child running around.
How long will my order take?
About 1 - 2 weeks before we pop it in the post, sometimes a little longer if we're experiencing a higher volume. 99.9% of your orders are made to order once you’ve placed your order.
It seems expensive, why?
Even though we try to buy fabric in bulk, we’re a small company and fabric is just really, really expensive. We use the best fabric on the market – it’s organic, it’s soft on little ones skin, and it lasts. We pay our seamstresses by the hour so that they can afford to go to school and run their own small business on the side. We have core values that we refuse to stray from and our garments are made with a lot of love. They are durable and will be passed down from sibling to sibling and to friends.
How should I wash my Charlie & Gus clothes?
Please wash your C&G clothes on a cold wash (if possible using a phosphate free detergent). Hang to dry (we don't recommend tumble drying) and iron on low.
Can I exchange or return an item?
Absolutely. We want you to be thrilled with your clothes and if you wish to exchange or return, that is no problem. Please send the clothes back to us unworn, unwashed, and with the tag still attached, 7 days after receiving your package. Once we receive the items we will either send you your refund or start production on your new items. We are a small shop and unfortunately we do not pay for returned shipping.
